The Accredited Employer Work Visa has landed!
Essential Skills work visa was phased out in early July 2022 and replaced by the Accredited Employer Work Visa.
From 4 July 2022, all employers who wish to support work visa applications must first be accredited with Immigration New Zealand. Employer accreditation is the first step of a three-stage process.
Once accredited, employers will then need to make a “job check” application to Immigration New Zealand. This proves that no New Zealanders are available to fill a particular position. Advertising may be required.
The third step is the Accredited Employer Work Visa application itself. As part of their work visa application, for most occupations, workers need to prove to Immigration New Zealand that they are being offered a minimum hourly rate of $29.66 and that they have the qualifications and work experience required to do the job.
If your company already has employees on Essential Skills work visas, or you need to hire workers from overseas because New Zealanders are not available, the Accredited Employer Work Visa is for you!
